Historic and Design Review Commission

The Commission is charged to preserve, protect and enhance historically, culturally, architecturally, and archaeologically significant sites and structures; advises the Director of Building Inspections concerning all applications for permits in the Historic Districts. Furthermore, the Commission advises the Director concerning all applications for building permits within the Riverwalk, and acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council and the City Manager in all matters pertaining to the development of the Riverwalk, and more particularly to the restrictions, regulations and controls set out in the ordinance. The Commission also advises the City Council on the acquisition and location of any work of art; relocation, removal or alteration of any work in possession of the City, any structure to be built on City land; or landscape design on City property. Meetings are held twice a month on the first and third Wednesday at 3:00 PM in the Board Room of the Cliff Morton Business and Development Service Center, 1901 S. Alamo St.
