Convention and Visitors Commission

The Commission is composed of twenty-five (25) members appointed by the City Council as follows: six (6) representing the San Antonio Hotel/Motel Assn.; one (1) each representing the San Antonio Restaurant Assn.; the Paseo Del Rio Assn.; Market Square; San Antonio Tourism Council; Sports Foundation; the airlines; the Taxicab Industry and a Mayoral appointment; two (2) representing theme parks; two (2) representing the Arts and Cultural Community; and five (5) representing the general community. Two members of the City Council serve as ex-officio. The Commission assists the respective Directors in establishing measurable objectives for the Alamodome, Convention Facilities, and Convention and Visitors Bureau; evaluates the effectiveness of current and proposed programs; advises in the preparation of the departmental budgets, and are briefed on expenditures in accordance with established guidelines. Regularly scheduled meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of every other month at 9:30 AM in the Convention & Visitors Bureau Main Conference Room on the second floor of the International Center. The meeting duration is usually one and a half hours. Special meetings are called in addition to the regularly scheduled meeting.
