City South Management Authority

One of the goals of the City is to balance San Antonio's growth by attracting new residents and businesses by promoting sustainable development and economic growth in an area rich with environmental, historical and human and economic resources. One method to achieve that goal was the creation of a Municipal Management District called a Defense Adjustment Management Authority (DAMA) in the statutorily eligible area known as "City South," under the provisions of Chapter 375 of the Local Government Code. The City South Management Authority was created on May 19, 2005. The Authority is a governmental entity and a political subdivision of the state of Texas. As such, the board is granted the power to generate development, construction, and financing of eligible projects within the Authority. The Board consists of fifteen (15) members. Six (6) are appointed by the City; Six (6) are appointed by the County; and three (3) are collectively appointed by the school districts within the Authority. Directors are appointed for two-year terms and the Presiding Officer for a four-year term. Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm at the Cliff Morton Development and Business Service Center, 1901 S. Alamo St.
